I would like to introduce myself to the citizens of Perry and Harlan Counties who comprise the State Representative
84th District. My name is Troy A. Gaw and I want to be your legislative voice.

I have lived in Harlan County all my life. My wife Cindy and I have three daughters, Hannah, 9, Hailey, 5,
both students at Rosspoint Elementary School, and Abigail, 2.

My parents are Clarence and Joyce Gaw of Keith. Both are retired school principals. My dad was a principal at Loyall
Elementary School for 17 years and my mother was a principal at Rosspoint Elementary School for 13 years. My grandparents are
Etta and the late Hershel A. Gaw of Harlan, and Sudie and the late Vernon Simpson of Four Mile.

I graduated from James A. Cawood High School in 1992, attended Southeast Community College for one year, and graduated from Union College in 1995 with a Bachelors of Science degree in accounting, and began my career in accounting in 1996.
I received my Certified Public Accountant certification in 1999.

I am a business owner. I have owned and operate Gaw & Associates, PLLC (A Certified Public Accountant firm) for the past 8 years. I am a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants. Being a Certified Public Accountant has allowed me the opportunity to work with the public, and allowed me the opportunity to work and manage budgets wisely, which has helped prepare me for the representative seat.

I am also a part owner in Varsi-Tee’s, Inc. d/b/a VIP Sports (a custom apparel shop) for the past 5 years,
and part owner in C & G Rentals, LLC (apartment complex) for the last 2 years.

I am an active member of the Yocum Creek Baptist Church in Evarts where I serve as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon.

I am a member of the Harlan Rotary Club where I have served as president, treasurer and served on several committees within the club.

I was a member of the Harlan County Outdoor Recreation Authority, Inc, where I served as the Chairperson of the Board.

I am familiar with the needs of Southeastern Kentucky and am willing to work hard to improve and correct these as possible. My education and community involvement have helped to prepare me for this trusted position.

The following are some of my major concerns for the 84th Representative District:
Education; Pre-school thru Post-Secondary Jobs & Economy
Support for Law Enforcement Drug rehabilitation and education
Water & Sewer services Coal industry
Tourism Development Health Care Services
Roads
As your Representative I will address these issues, along with the other that come before the legislative body.

I WILL BE YOUR VOICE!
